8-Year-Old Girl Receives Something Unexpected From The Crow She’s Been Feeding For 4 Years

Feeding the birds is a kind thing to do, and as kids, everyone would want to do kind stuff to the animals, just because it feels good. This little 8-year-old named Gabi Mann from Seattle, Washington loved feeding birds, crows in her family garden and a crow presented little Gabi with something stunning!

Specific labels

8-year-old girl Gabi receives gifts from the crows and she keeps it safely tucked in the bead storage box like it is the one treasured possession she could ever have. She has even labelled her gifts with very specific details, for eg. A broken light bulb tagged with a label, “Black table by the feeder. 2:30 p.m. 09 Nov 2014.”

Gabi says…

She has received an ample number of gifts from the crows like, Lego pieces, beads, buttons, paper clips and pieces of foam. But on the gift she received is closer to her heart than the others. It is a pearl coloured heart. Gabi says, “It’s showing me how much they love me.”

Dropping food

The bird feeding things was actually by chance because Gabi was prone to dropping food all over the place and every crow on the block would just hover around her for food. She didn’t mind that they were eating the food that she had spilt. For all, it was not wasted at least.

They spilled their lunch

After a while, she started dropping scraps of food on purpose to feed the crows. She used to do this on the way to and from the bus stop with her brother. Crows had started recognizing the kind-hearted girl and used to wait for her to get off the school bus every day. Gabi and her brother’s packed lunch was all gone for the crows but their mother Lisa, didn’t mind it.

The backyard was dining place for crows

Lisa said, “I like that they love the animals and are willing to share.” The whole family had started feeding the crow a daily habit by 2013. Their backyard is the crows dining place and so each morning the family filled the place’s birdbath with new water and spreads out with peanuts and dog food. Their kind deed is what made the birds show their gratitude towards them.

Token of gratitude

The crows have made it a custom to drop something as a token of gratitude for getting food from the family. Some gifts are so incredible that you would be stunned how a bird figured out the human preference. A gift that Gabi received had a piece of metal with the word “best” stamped on it. Gabi thinks that a crow is wearing the other half of it that says friend and she jokes about it.

Lisa says…

One more gift that Gabi treasure is a screw. She says, “You don’t’ see a crow carrying around a screw that much. Unless it’s trying to build its house.” Lisa has been surprised by the things that the crows did for her. She had lost her camera lens cap, in the alley near her home while capturing pictures of a bald eagle but before she could go find it, she found it sitting on the edge of the birdbath. When she checked the bird cam she found that a bird had bought this and even took the time to wash the lens cap.
