Different-sex individuals of the same species sometimes look so different that you begin to doubt their relationship. Scientists even came up with a name for such anatomical differences – sexual dimorphism. WHAT YES HOW prepared for you 7 pairs of animals with noticeable differences between females and males.
Mandrill

Let’s start the analysis of the animal world with the most brightly colored monkeys. In the photo on the left, we see a male of this species with an incredibly colorful face, by which it can be recognized. But the female mandrill (on the right) is not supposed to have much makeup, they say the beauty of a woman is in modesty.
Sea Elephant

The name of these seals was not given in vain – large dimensions and a nose, similar to a trunk, are very “related” to them with elephants. Females and young males of the hanging process, which fully grows only by the age of 8, are deprived. The use at the nose is important – during the mating season, this is something that from 30 cm is poured almost up to 80, they whip their competitors with relish.
Elephant

Since we remembered the elephants, let’s look at the differences between them. Surely you yourself have already guessed that this is a matter of tusks. In Africa, nature “distributes” them right and left to both sexes. But their Indian relatives are much more conservative – only males have tusks, and even then not always.
A lion

Next comes the king of beasts and everything is quite simple. Males need a mane to visually increase their size for menacing. A healthy cat’s mane is always lush and thick.
Peacock

If you thought that the famous peacock tail was the “calling card” of the female, then this is not so. The same splendor is only in males. They use it not only to show off in front of the ladies but also to scare off potential hunters.
Common pheasant

Male pheasants seem to have also entered the ladies’ wardrobe, leaving them with only beige, black, and gray shades of plumage.
Noble deer

And finally, let’s compare different-sex individuals of red deer. Nature has crowned the head of a deer with majestic horns with many processes, with which they protect themselves from predators and rivals for a female. Deer did not get the privilege.
What do you think of all of this? Was nature right?
